Between Saturnia and Rome, allow about 155 to 160 km by road, generally 2 h 15 to 2 h 30 by car, excluding slowdowns. The distance varies a little depending on your exact starting point — the village or the Mulino waterfalls — and your arrival in Rome. Traffic on the approach to the capital can also lengthen the trip, especially at rush hour.
Without a car, the trip is less simple: Saturnia has no train station and you have to combine bus and train, sometimes with several connections. Depending on the schedules and connections available on the day of your trip, plan on several hours ; some options can take around 3 to 5 hours or more. Check the departures before setting your schedule, as local buses do not run as often as trains.
In practice, if you want to get from Saturnia to Rome within the day without depending on connections, the car is clearly more convenient. However, keep some leeway before a flight or train departing from Rome: the indicated times do not take traffic jams or parking into account.
