The Torre di Capo d'Uomo is located on the western slope of the Monte Argentario, in the province of Grosseto, between Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole. Perched at about 358 metres above sea level, it overlooks the sea towards the island of Giglio. It is an old medieval watchtower, now in ruins, and not a monument fitted out with a reception area or an interior visit.
To get close to it, take the scenic road of the Argentario from Porto Santo Stefano to the area of Poggio Fornacelle, where the trail begins. Allow about 3 km round trip and 1 hour of walking, depending on your pace and breaks. The path climbs over rocky ground and has exposed sections with no guardrails: bring shoes with good grip and water. The tower is accessible only on foot, and the route is not suitable for strollers or people with reduced mobility. Parking at the starting point may also be limited; it is best not to count on a proper car park.
