How to avoid the crowds at Bagni San Filippo?

To avoid the crowds at Bagni San Filippo, aim for a weekday and arrive early, ideally before 9 a.m. ; above all avoid spring weekends and busy summer days. In the late afternoon, there are often fewer people, but you will get to enjoy the pools for less time. The paid parking at the entrance to the village is located about 5 to 10 minutes on foot from the White Creek (Fosso Bianco) and can fill up quickly during busy periods.

For a quieter visit, choose spring or autumn instead, on a weekday; winter is generally less crowded, but the path and the areas around the pools can be cold, damp and slippery. Avoid midday hours, especially in July and August. Even early on, don't expect to be necessarily alone near the Balena Bianca : many visitors stop there. You can look for a pool further downstream, without walking on the limestone formations or bathing right next to this fragile formation. Wear shoes with good grip, and keep in mind that there is no reserved time slot for accessing the free springs.

The Balena Bianca attracts all eyes, but the charm of Bagni San Filippo is not limited to this limestone star: keep your eyes open, the small detours sometimes hold the loveliest surprises.
