What is the sea like in Porto Ercole?

À Porto Ercole, the sea is often clear, but the beaches are small and the shoreline alternates between sand, pebbles and rocks: it is not a long stretch of fine sand. The wind can also change conditions from one cove to another. For easy swimming, Cala Galera has a shallow sandy bottom; Le Viste, near the old village, mixes sand and pebbles and is reached in about 10-minute walk, avec une descente qui grimpe au retour.

If you are looking for a large beach to settle on, look instead towards Feniglia : elle est sableuse et l’entrée dans l’eau est généralement progressive.

Keep some time to choose your cove: in the Argentario, the best plan is sometimes the one you discover after a small detour, not the one you had planned at the start!
