How much does 1 GB of internet cost in Italy?

In Italy, 1 GB costs about €2.50 to €5 with a travel eSIM, but there is no single rate: the price depends on the provider and the validity period. With an Italian SIM card, you generally buy a much more generous monthly plan rather than a single gigabyte: expect, as a guideline, about €8 to €13 for several tens or hundreds of GB. So the cost per 1 GB can be lower than 0,15 €, but you sometimes need to add card or activation fees.

If you are coming from the United States, first check your carrier's roaming fees: they can far exceed the price of an eSIM. If you have a plan from a European Union country, roaming in Italy is often included, subject to the fair use limits set by your plan. For a short stay, an eSIM of 1 à 5 Go may be enough for maps and messages; browsing, videos and tethering use much more. In Maremma, as elsewhere, also check network coverage in villages or in the countryside: price alone does not guarantee signal.
