Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you on a sensory journey to the heart of the Maremma, that wild and authentic land of Tuscany. This Morellino di Scansano from the Cerreto Piano estate is much more than a wine; it is a vibrant expression of its terroir, an encounter with the generosity and elegance of Sangiovese. Let yourself be charmed by its unique character.
It is in the Scansano region, in southern Tuscany, that the Cerreto Piano estate cultivates its vines. This area, bathed in sunshine and influenced by the sea breeze, gives the grapes a particular richness and complexity. The Morellino di Scansano DOCG is mainly made from the Sangiovese grape, here called "Morellino", which draws all its strength and typicity from this unique soil.
The vinification of this 2024 vintage is designed to preserve the integrity of the fruit: a fermentation in steel tanks, followed by a maceration on the skins. This process, combined with aging of at least six months, allows the wine to develop its structure and aromas. You will discover an intense ruby red color, sometimes crossed with garnet reflections that appear over time. On the nose, I perceive lively notes of red fruits, notably cherry and plum, accompanied by a light spicy touch and a subtle aftertaste of aromatic herbs and damp earth, evocative of the Mediterranean scrubland. On the palate, this wine is generous and well-structured. The attack is soft, almost velvety, evolving towards a complexity where fruits and spices blend harmoniously. The tannins are well integrated and supple, contributing to a long and persistent finish that leaves a pleasant sensation of balance and freshness.
This Morellino di Scansano is an ideal companion for your meals. I particularly recommend it with red meats, whether grilled or roasted, and it will pair wonderfully with aged cheeses. Imagine it alongside a good dish of pappardelle with wild boar or a bistecca alla fiorentina, and you will have the perfect pairing. It is a wine that invites sharing and conviviality, and that will enhance your tasting moments, whether simple or festive. Let yourself be tempted by this Tuscan authenticity.
