Tosco Tosco

The Tuscan Maremma is a land of powerful and sincere red wines, long forgotten in the shadow of Chianti and Montalcino. The region's wine renaissance, which began in the 1990s with the rise in quality of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG, revealed to the world a Mediterranean Sangiovese with softer tannins, with notes of ripe red fruits and spices. Since then, other appellations have emerged: Montecucco, Maremma Toscana, Capalbio.

The wine estates in our selection are chosen for the intrinsic quality of their wines, but also for their accessibility to visitors. Our fact sheets indicate contact procedures and the types of tastings offered. Beyond red, the region also produces Bianco di Pitigliano DOC — a mineral white wine on volcanic tuff, ideal with the fish of the nearby Etruscan coast.

The harvest period (late September — early October) is the best time to visit the estates. Several properties accept volunteers for the harvest — inquire directly.
