A cetaria is an ancient fishery, a basin carved into the coastal rock by the Romans to raise fish and shellfish. You'll find a few remains in Maremma, notably at the Roselle Archaeological Park or near the Villa Settefinestre. It's not a major tourist site in itself, but if you're interested in Roman history and in how the people of that time exploited the sea, it's an interesting detail to observe. It gives you a concrete glimpse of their ingenuity.
