Where to park in Massa Marittima?

The simplest option is to head for the piazzale Mazzini parking lot, just before the ZTL entrance and close to the historic center: you can then reach the old streets on foot. The spaces there are in a paid blue zone ; check the hours and rate on the parking meter or the signage, as they may vary depending on the period. There are also spaces in the streets around the center, especially towards via Carducci and via Corridoni, but they are also likely to be paid.

If you can't find a spot, look at the via della Manganella parking lot, below the ramparts: it lets you leave the car before walking up to the center. The latter is on a slope, so expect a bit of effort on the way back, especially if it's hot. Avoid blindly following the GPS to piazza Garibaldi : the historic center is in a ZTL, with electronic control at via Ximenes active 24/7. Without authorization, do not cross the ZTL sign, even if the street seems accessible. During market periods or events, arrive early: the closest parking lot can fill up quickly.

In Massa Marittima, the last steps on foot are part of the charm: the narrow streets are best enjoyed without a car in the setting.
