What are the villages near Montieri?

The villages closest to Montieri are Gerfalco, Travale and Boccheggiano : these are also the three hamlets of the municipality. They are located about 3 to 5 km as the crow flies from the centre of Montieri, but the winding roads make the journeys longer. By car, allow rather about ten minutes, depending on the village and the starting point.

Gerfalco, to the north-west, is the highest perched, near the Cornate e Fosini nature reserve. Travale, to the north, is a small medieval village; ; Boccheggiano, to the south-east, has a mining past. To get a bit outside the municipal territory, Chiusdino is about 11 km by road, i.e. around 15 to 20 minutes by car. The distances may seem short on the map, but the local roads do not always allow you to move quickly. Without a car, check the bus schedules before planning several villages in the same day: the rural services are limited.
