What are the best things to see in Magliano in Toscana?

À Magliano in Toscana, start by wandering through the medieval center and its ramparts, then head to the ruins of San Bruzio, about 2 km of the village. In the town, follow the narrow streets between the Porta San Giovanni and the Porta San Martino : the latter opens onto the countryside. The walkway also allows you to observe the fortifications up close, but don't expect a long, developed promenade.

On the square, look at the facade of the Palazzo di Checco il Bello, then enter the pieve San Giovanni Battista if it is open: it notably houses frescoes and a baptistery dated 1439. At the exit of the village, theOlivo della Strega, a monumental olive tree, is worth a brief detour. For San Bruzio, there remain walls, an apse and arches, not an intact building; the site is visited mainly for its ruins and the rural setting. Allow about 1 to 2 hours for the village, more if you go to the ruins on foot. The churches' opening hours may vary, so check on site before counting on an interior visit.

Don't try to fill every minute: Magliano is best savored with a planned detour, but without a rigid itinerary. It's the kind of place where the small detour is sometimes worth more than a checked box.
