Where do you board for Giglio Island?

You board at Porto Santo Stefano, on the promontory of Monte Argentario, in the province of Grosseto: it is the departure port for the ferries to Giglio Porto, , on the ’île de Giglio. The crossing takes about an hour. The boats run all year round, with more departures in summer; schedules vary according to the season and the day.

You can board on foot or with a vehicle, but check the rules before leaving: in August, access for non-residents' cars and motorcycles may be limited, particularly depending on the length of stay. In high season and on weekends, it's best to book early, especially if you want to take your car. If you leave it on the mainland, plan for parking in Porto Santo Stefano and walk to the port. Check the current schedules just before your trip, as they change throughout the year.
