How long does it take to go around Giglio Island'?

To go all the way around theIsland of Giglio by boat, allow about 3 hours for a coastal excursion; with swimming breaks, it can take longer. The duration also depends on the sea conditions and the proposed route. Departures are generally from Giglio Porto.

On land, you can't go all the way around it by car or bus: there is no continuous road along the entire coastline, much of which is rocky. The bus connects the three villages — Giglio Porto, Giglio Castello and Giglio Campese — en environ 30 minutes one way, but this route crosses the island rather than going around it. On foot, crossing between the villages via the trails is another option: allow about 4 hours for 9 km, not counting breaks; that's not a full tour of the island either. So if you were thinking of a land walk all around the shore, it's better to plan a boat excursion.

My little piglet's advice: don't turn the outing into a race against the clock; on Giglio, the best detour is often the one where you let the coast surprise you.
