How do you get to the Cala dei Santi caves?

To get to the caves of Cala dei Santi, you have to go by the sea : no trail or road leads down to the cove. The shortest way is to set off by boat from Porto Ercole or Cala Galera ; allow about 10 minutes of navigation. From Porto Santo Stefano, the crossing takes around 55 minutes. You can rent a boat or a small rigid inflatable boat if you have the appropriate licence, or book a guided trip departing from the harbour. Durations vary depending on the boat and sea conditions; also check departure times and prices when booking.

Tell the provider that you want to see the Grotta dei Santi, as the excursion may include other coves without a stop inside the cave. Access to the entrance is from the sea and the natural passage can be low or narrow; landing and visiting the cave is not necessarily allowed or possible on every trip. Ask before setting off, and do not attempt the approach if the sea is rough. For a comfortable visit, bring shoes that stay on your feet and, if you plan to enter the cave, a waterproof torch.

The Grotta dei Santi is like a little adventure chapter in the middle of a boat trip: give it some time, rather than rushing from cove to cove.
