How to get to the island of Giannutri?

Pour rejoindre Giannutri, take the ferry of the Maregiglio company departing from Porto Santo Stefano : the crossing takes about 1 hour and the boat docks at Cala Spalmatoio or Cala Maestra. Departures are not daily all year round and the schedules change according to the season; in October 2026, they are scheduled only on certain days. Check the exact timetable and book before leaving, as places are limited. The adult round-trip ticket currently costs about 34 à 38 €, depending on the period; the access ticket to the park of 2,50 € is included with the regular ferry.

You can also arrive with a private boat, but the park ticket remains mandatory. Cars and motorcycles cannot disembark on the island. Once ashore, you can move freely between the two coves via the path that connects them; to explore the other areas, the accompaniment of a guide is required. Services on site are limited, especially off-season: bring water, something to eat and suitable shoes. The ferry usually only allows a few hours on the island, so also check the return time before planning your walk.

In Giannutri, it is better to keep some time to stroll and look at the sea rather than wanting to check everything off: the island is savored at its own pace.
