Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you to discover a gem of the Maremma, this corner of Tuscany where the sun and the sea shape wines of rare intensity. The Niccolaio from Grillesino is much more than a Cabernet Sauvignon; it is a story, that of a terroir and a passion, which I am delighted to share with you.
Nestled in the heart of the Maremma, this estate benefits from a Mediterranean climate and clay soils, ideal conditions for expressing all the power and finesse of Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 vintage, from these sun-drenched lands, is the fruit of careful winemaking, with fermentation in steel tanks and extended maceration that reveals the richness of its aromas. This process allows the grape variety to draw the very essence of its environment, offering a perfect balance between structure and elegance.
When you pour this Niccolaio, you will immediately be seduced by its intense ruby red color, a promise of beautiful depth. On the nose, it will envelop you with aromas of ripe red fruits, notably wild berries and plum, accompanied by delicate notes of aromatic herbs, an echo of the Mediterranean garrigue. The 12 to 18 months of aging also give it subtle aromas of vanilla and tobacco. On the palate, you will discover a full-bodied wine, where the tannins are soft and perfectly integrated, leaving a pleasant mineral persistence that recalls the unique characteristics of the Maremma terroir.
This Cabernet Sauvignon from Grillesino is an ideal companion for convivial meals and bold flavors. I particularly recommend it with roasted or braised red meats, where its structure and aromas will marry wonderfully with the richness of the dishes. It will also enhance game and will find its place alongside aged cheeses, offering a harmonious tasting experience. It is a wine that invites conviviality, perfect for sharing an authentic and flavorful moment, a true expression of Tuscan winemaking tradition.
