Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself under the Tuscan sun, a sea breeze caressing your face. That is exactly the emotion that this Costa Toscana IGT rosé from Folonari, named àuricA, evokes from the very first encounter. It is the promise of a getaway, a moment of pure lightness.
This wine comes to us from Maremma, that coastal part of Tuscany where the land meets the sea, offering a unique terroir. The Folonari estate, rich in a long winemaking history, has managed to capture the essence of this region. This rosé is made from Syrah, a grape variety that, under the Maremma climate, expresses here an unexpected delicacy. The vinification takes place in steel tanks, a method chosen to preserve the freshness and aromatic purity of the fruit, without artifice.
As soon as you pour it, you are charmed by its pale, limpid pink color, a true visual invitation. On the nose, it offers you a delicate profile, with scents of small red fruits — think raspberry or redcurrant — and light floral notes that bring a touch of poetry. On the palate, this rosé is exquisitely light, fluid and very pleasant to drink. Its balance is designed for immediate pleasure, favoring freshness and a revitalizing acidity. The finish is dry and just persistent enough to make you want to come back to it.
To fully appreciate this Folonari àuricA, I recommend serving it well chilled, between 8 and 10 °C. It is perfect as an aperitif, where its liveliness whets the appetite with elegance. It pairs naturally with summer flavors: composed salads, raw seafood, grilled fish or light dishes based on white meat. It is an ideal companion for informal meals, where its freshness refreshes the palate and accompanies conviviality. This 2024 vintage is a lovely discovery, a wine that embodies the Tuscan joie de vivre and that I recommend without hesitation for your moments of relaxation.
