The ZTL, or Limited Traffic Zone, is an urban perimeter where traffic is restricted to certain hours or for certain vehicles. In Maremma, as everywhere in Italy, you find them in the historic centres of towns and villages. If you enter without authorisation (camera as proof), you receive a hefty fine, even months after your return. Always check whether your accommodation offers a temporary pass or parking outside the ZTL. This is a crucial point to avoid unpleasant surprises.
