The Palio Marinaro, in Maremma, is a rowing boat race, often traditional small boats, which takes place between the districts or coastal towns. You'll see one for example in Porto Santo Stefano or in Castiglione della Pescaia. Far from being a mere sporting event, it is a competition where the rivalry is palpable, a true popular festival.
