A sterrato is an unpaved road, made of dirt or gravel. In Maremma, you'll find them everywhere, connecting villages, farms, and vineyards. These are not hiking trails but real drivable roads. They are the backbone of the territory, taking you to the most authentic and often the most beautiful places. Be prepared for dust in summer and mud after rain. Your vehicle will take a beating, but that's the price to pay for immersion.
