À Roccastrada, From there, you can see the old stone town center, the church San Niccolò and the Teatro dei Concordi, then explore the medieval hamlets and the remains of castles in the surrounding area. In the church, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, look at the 16the century frescoes. The Porta del Madonnino marks the old entrance to the village, but its restorations have softened its medieval appearance. The theater, inaugurated in 1872, is located in the more recent part of the village. To walk through the center, allow about 1 h 30 to 2 h ; the streets are sloped.
If you have a car, add Montemassi, with its narrow lanes and its castle, then Roccatederighi, whose houses cling to the trachyte rocks. The ruins of the castle of Sassoforte, near Sassofortino, complete the visit, but these are remains, not a monument laid out as a museum: find out about access and plan to walk. Since the sites are spread across several villages, it's better to allow half a day to combine a few of them rather than trying to see everything on foot from Roccastrada.
