What is the difficulty of the trail to Punta Telegrafo?

The trail to Punta Telegrafo, , on the Monte Argentario, is of difficulty moderate to demanding : it requires no particular technique, but the climb and the length can be tiring if you rarely walk. From Porto Ercole, the variants are about 11 to 14 km and generally take 3 to 4 h 30. The figures vary depending on the chosen route; some paths pass near the summit without reaching it.

Expect dirt paths, a fairly steady climb and irregular sections: good hiking shoes are preferable to smooth sneakers. The peak reaches about 635 m, but the military installation located there is not accessible; so you may not be able to reach the highest point. This is not a hike suitable for young children or someone not used to long walks, especially in intense heat. Set off with enough water: do not count on supply points along the trail.

Do not turn the climb into a race: it is better to keep some breath to enjoy the path than to want to reach the top at all costs.
