At the source, the water from the Petriolo hot springs comes out at about 43 °C. In the natural pools, it is often less hot: it mixes with the water of the Farma river and its temperature varies from one pool to another. So you won't find a single temperature for the whole site.
Near the source's outlet, the water can be very hot; test it with your hand before getting in and choose a pool further away if you prefer lukewarm water. The river's temperature, on the other hand, is much cooler. The baths can be enjoyed all year round, but the difference between the thermal water and the air is more noticeable during the cold months. The sulphurous smell is also present: that's normal for these waters.
