What to do today in Massa Marittima?

Aujourd’hui, Thursday, October 8, 2026, bet on a stroll through the medieval center of Massa Marittima : in October, the municipal museums are open from Friday to Sunday, so the Museo Archeologico, the Museo di San Pietro all’Orto and the Torre del Candeliere are normally closed today. Start from Piazza Garibaldi to see the Duomo and its surroundings, then wander through the alleys to the Fonti dell’Abbondanza, known for their medieval fresco of the Tree of Fertility. Access to the inside of the Fonti may depend on daily openings; don't count on it without checking on site.

Expect around 1 to 2 hours for the walking tour, more if you take the time to stop at the squares and viewpoints. To enter the Cattedrale di San Cerbone, check the hours posted at the entrance: those published for the summer period do not guarantee opening in October. If you can postpone your visit, the museums should reopen tomorrow, Friday October 9, de 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. ; the entrance fee for the archaeological museum is announced at 4 €. Et samedi 10 octobre, it's the feast of San Cerbone, patron saint of the town: check locally for the exact schedule of celebrations.

In Massa Marittima, the charm lies as much in the changes of perspective as in front of the great monuments: let the alleys make you zigzag a little, they have a knack for surprising the curious.
