How long does it take to visit Giglio Island?

Account a full day to discover the three villages of the Isola del Gigliobut plan for instead two to three days if you also want to enjoy the beaches or go hiking. In one day, you can go through Giglio Porto, monter à Giglio Castello, then head to Campese ; however, it will be a fairly fast-paced visit, especially if you do the round trip in a single day from the mainland.

The crossing from Porto Santo Stefano takes about one hour each way, which reduces the time available on site. The villages are connected by road: allow about 6 km between the port and Castello, , then 8 km between the port and Campese. The bus can make getting around easier, but its schedules vary depending on the period and some beaches are not served directly.

For a first discovery without extended swimming, one day may be enough. To alternate sightseeing, seaside breaks and strolls, staying at least one night makes the stay more pleasant; with two nights, you will have more leeway to explore the coves or the trails. You will find other practical pointers on the Isola del Giglio.

On Giglio, true luxury is not turning the day into a race around the villages: leave some room to wander, otherwise you risk only seeing the island through the clock!
