Comment on noteThe wine
Let me guide you to a gem, a red wine that doesn't shout its excellence but whispers it with a truly Tuscan grace. This Barco Reale di Carmignano DOC from Artimino is the promise of perfect balance, of a measured personality that will seduce you with its refined sobriety.
We are here in Carmignano, in the heart of Tuscany, a DOC appellation rich in centuries-old winemaking history. The Artimino estate, with its deep heritage, carefully cultivates its Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines. It is from this union that this wine is born, a blend that respects local tradition while bringing a touch of modernity to it. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, with a brief maceration to gently extract the aromas and color, followed by a malolactic fermentation also in steel. The wine then spends six months on fine lees before bottling, a crucial step for refining its texture and complexity.
When you bring this wine to your eyes, you will discover a deep and luminous red color. On the nose, prepare yourself for a delicate sensory journey: I perceive notes of fragoline di bosco, those small wild strawberries so characteristic, of ripe cherry and mammola violet, a flower that evokes softness and elegance. On the palate, you will be charmed by its restrained structure and its tannins that are present but never aggressive. The acidity, well balanced, supports the palate and offers beautiful freshness, while touches of ripe fruit and spicy accents blend with a subtle minerality, marking a wine of great harmony.
This Barco Reale from Artimino is a wine of great versatility. I recommend serving it at a slightly cool temperature, around 16-18°C, and if you have the patience, don't hesitate to open it a little before tasting it so that it fully reveals its aromas. It will be a perfect partner for your meat dishes, whether a flavorful roast, a simmered stew or medium to hard cheeses. It's the kind of bottle that transforms an everyday meal into a moment of special sharing, especially if you opt for the magnum format, ideal for convivial occasions.
