Monte Argentario, a rocky peninsula connected to the mainland by three sand spits (tomboli), concentrates the most sought-after accommodations on the Maremma coast: villas with sea views, boutique hotels in the coves, upscale apartments in Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole. The area's exceptional geography — cliffs, secret coves, coastal trails — justifies rates often above the regional average.
Staying on the Argentario gives access to the most beautiful dives and coves in Tuscany, as well as to the sea links to the island of Giglio and Giannutri. Booking well in advance is recommended in July-August, the period when the peninsula is the most in demand in all of Maremma.
