What is the Calidario?

The Calidario, at Venturina Terme in the municipality of Campiglia Marittima, is a thermal facility organized around a natural lake fed by a hot spring: it is neither a wine nor a gastronomic appellation. The spring water gushes out at approximately 36 °C ; in the pool, the stated average temperature is around 33 °C and can vary depending on rainfall. The lake covers a little more than 3 000 m². On site, you will also find the Thermarium and the’Aqvolina Restaurant & Lounge Bar, which offers cuisine presented as simple and seasonal.

For a gourmet stop, Aqvolina is therefore the Calidario's restaurant; for swimming, plan on half a day instead and check the opening hours depending on the season. Entry to the spring is listed between 25 et 45 € for an adult, depending on the package and the date, and advance booking is required. Access to the pool is reserved for people 6 ans et plus. Worth noting if you travel in winter: the facility generally closes for part of January to March; the dates change from year to year, so check before you go.

I would keep it for breaking up a day of sightseeing: after the villages and the old stones, a break at the Calidario nicely changes the pace.
