Porto Ercole, on the eastern side of Monte Argentario, is the most sheltered marina in the Maremma: the bay is protected from the prevailing winds and the coves of the southern coast (Cala Grande, Le Cannelle, Cala del Gesso) are reached in less than half an hour. The island of Giannutri, with its translucent waters and Roman villa, is 45 minutes away by motorboat. It is by far the port with the widest rental offer: rigid inflatable boats without a license, motorboats, sailboats and skippered yachts.
The village itself, with its Spanish forts and its fishing port, is worth a stop before or after the trip out to sea; the Feniglia beach and its pine grove are five minutes away.
