Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine a wine that defied conventions, born of a bold vision on the sun-drenched lands of Tuscany. This is Sassicaia, a legend that whispers the story of an oenological revolution, a bridge between two worlds.
I'm taking you to Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, where Tenuta San Guido planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines, grape varieties then unexpected in this region. It is here, under the impetus of the Incisa della Rocchetta family, that Sassicaia was born in 1968, a wine that would redefine the Italian wine landscape and give rise to the famous "Super Tuscans". The 2015 vintage, which I'm telling you about today, is a magnificent example of this tradition of excellence.
This wine, made mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc, is the result of fermentation in steel tanks, followed by meticulous aging in French oak barrels for about 24 months. Its robe takes on an intense ruby red, which evolves towards garnet with time. On the nose, you will discover a remarkable aromatic complexity: notes of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, tobacco, chocolate, lifted by balsamic and spicy touches. On the palate, it reveals exceptional richness and depth, with silky tannins and a vibrant acidity that promise a long and beautiful evolution.
This Sassicaia 2015 is an invitation to celebrate. I recommend it with grilled red meats, flavorful game or aged cheeses. It is a wine that calls for special moments, a tasting where time stands still, to appreciate every nuance of its character. Let yourself be carried away by this Tuscan experience, glass in hand.
