Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine a wine that redefined the Italian wine landscape, a bottle that whispers history and innovation. That's what you hold in your hands with the Sassicaia 2015, a legend born from the Tuscan lands.
This wine is the fruit of Tenuta San Guido, an estate that dared to plant Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in the coastal region of Bolgheri, an audacity that gave birth to the "Super Tuscans". Sassicaia made its debut in 1968, revolutionizing local viticulture and leading to the creation, in 1994, of the Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, unique in its kind as it is dedicated to a single wine. This 2015 vintage is a tribute to that pioneering vision, crafted mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by a touch of Cabernet Franc.
It dons an intense ruby red color, which will evolve toward garnet hues over time. On the nose, you will discover a remarkable aromatic complexity: notes of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant and blackberry mingle with accents of spices, tobacco and even a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine is rich and structured, with silky tannins and vibrant acidity that promise a long persistence. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, followed by an aging of at least 24 months in French oak barriques, which contributes to its deep and harmonious aromatic bouquet.
To fully appreciate this treasure, I recommend pairing it with dishes that will showcase it. It is ideal with red meats, especially game, where its structure and complexity will find a perfect echo. Aged cheeses will also be wonderful companions, allowing the wine's aromas to blossom. This is a wine to enjoy on special occasions, a moment of sharing, or simply to treat yourself to a moment of pure pleasure.
